Nuggets try to get on same page against Grizzlies

(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Denver Nuggets try to put the brakes on a four-
game losing streak this evening when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies at the
FedExForum.
Denver became Dallas' 19th straight victim at home on Saturday when they fell
to the Mavericks, 115-95, at American Airlines Center.
Carmelo Anthony dropped in 34 points and had six rebounds as the Nuggets fell
to 12-13 on the road and lost for the sixth time in eight games as the
visitor. Allen Iverson tallied 26 points, five boards and four assists, while
Marcus Camby finished with 10 points, 17 boards and seven assists.
Denver has still yet to click with both Anthony and Iverson on the roster, as
the Nuggets are just 2-6 with the explosive duo in the lineup at the same
time.
The club's current four-game skid is just on shy of its season high.
Denver's recent losing skid has dropped it into a tie with New
Orleans/Oklahoma City for the seventh spot in the West. The Los Angeles Clippers are just one-half game back, ninth overall.
The Nuggets will return to Denver on Wednesday to open a three-game homestand
against Orlando.
Tonight's game against Memphis may be the best opportunity for the Nuggets to
end their skid, as the Grizzlies currently sit dead last in the Western
Conference.
Memphis does come into the game on a winning not however. On Friday, Pau Gasol
scored 23 points and the Grizzlies edged the Portland Trail Blazers, 103-102.
It wasn't easy as Memphis blew a nine-point lead with under five minutes
remaining and led by just one point at 102-101 after a three-pointer by
Portland's Brandon Roy.
Damon Stoudamire then converted a foul shot with under two ticks left and
missed his second try on purpose, but a loose ball four on Lawrence Roberts
gave Portland's Ime Udoka a chance to tie the game.
He hit the first shot, but failed on the second as Memphis held on.
Hakim Warrick posted 20 points and seven rebounds for Memphis, which snapped a
three-game losing streak with the win. Mike Miller had 19 points and seven
assists.
The game concluded a four-game road trip for Memphis and was its only win on
the trek. The club stays home where it is 11-17 to host Utah on Wednesday.
Denver and Memphis have split a pair of meetings so far this season, with both
games taking place in Colorado. The clubs will conclude their four-game set on
April 14 in Memphis.
The Nuggets have won seven of the last nine in the series, but has lost six of
eight as the visitor.

Pittsburgh earned their passage to the big game by beating their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 23-14 in yesterday's AFC Championship Game. The Steelers jumped on Baltimore early, building a 13-0 first half lead, and never let up on their way to a fairly easy win. Although the Ravens did close to within two points in the fourth quarter, it never appeared as if they had enough offense to pull off the upset.
The Steelers dominating defense held Baltimore to a total of 198 yards while allowing them to convert just three third downs in 13 attempts. Pittsburgh also forced quarterback Joe Flacco into three interceptions, one of which safety Troy Polamalu returned fourty yards for a touchdown.
The Cardinals, by far the playoff team with the longest odds to reach Super Bowl XLIII, did so yesterday with a 32-25 upset of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. Arizona charged out of the gates and built a 24-6 halftime lead that had the Eagles venerable defense reeling. Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald did most of the damage, connecting on three first half touchdowns.
Arizona, however, could not sustain their momentum and the Eagles took a 25-24 with 10:45 left to play in the fourth. The Cardinals, with the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance hanging in the balance, mounted a fourteen play, 72 yard touchdown drive that consumed 7:52 off the clock. Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.
MySportsbook.com's Super Bowl XLIII Betting Odds:
Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5 (-110), Over 46.5 (-110), -260 (Money line)
